Artificial Intelligence | Past, Present, and Future

The Past

Few know that the term “Artificial Intelligence” or AI was first used in the 1950s when computer scientist John McCarthy used it at a conference he organized. John McCarthy would go on to be considered by some as the “Father of AI” and funding for the area of research was high for a few decades.

It led to innovation, but it also was difficult because of a number of limitations including not being able to house all the data. Between the 70s and 80s research funding began to dry up, but the revolution of AI was positioned to occur and that brings us to “The Present.”

The Present

Interest picked back up in the 90s and so did funding. One of the most memorable AI moments was IBM’s Deep Blue beating chess champion Garry Kasparov. Many see it is a landmark that proved the promise of AI and what was to come.

Machine learning became an important part of AI research in the 2000s and it has been the way that countless companies including Google, Amazon, Apple, etc. have been pushing the boundaries of AI innovation.

The Future

The future of AI is exciting and it is what our group is putting together to share with the world. The information we have researched has a focus on the key role neuroscience has played in the development of Artificial Intelligence technology and within our blog you can find information on topics including:
